Gladstone manufacturer Alpha HPA has expanded its customer base, securing new orders from multinational companies including 3M, Merck, Entegris, Tokuyama and Saint Gobain.
It comes after the company last month announced its final investment decision to develop its full-scale HPA First project in Gladstone at an expected cost of just over $550 million.
The company said the wave of new orders to top-tier science, technology and construction conglomerates highlighted the critical role of its advanced, low-carbon technology in the high-purity aluminium market.
“We are pleased to report that the company has recorded a material increase in product orders and increase in test order volumes and sales post FID of Stage 2,’’ Alpha HPA managing director Rimas Kairaitis said.
The company’s Stage 1 Precursor Production Facility in Gladstone has established small-scale commercial production for a range of products including 5N aluminium nitrate precursors and 4N5+ purity aluminas (HPA) and high purity alumina hydrates.
Stage Two will encompass full-scale production of up to 10,430 tonnes of high-purity aluminium materials per year from a facility at that existing project site at Yarwun.
Procurement and project controls contractor Prudentia Engineering will be delivering the project with Alpha management under an Integrated Owners Team (IOT) model.
Alpha HPA said a fully integrated design and construct structural, mechanical and piping contractor was also working within the IOT.
Layout and civil design have advanced to allow for the earthworks package to be finalised and issued for tender.
The company stated in an update to the market today that it remained on schedule to begin site establishment and earthworks early in the September quarter 2024.
It said it had recruited a number of key hires including construction superintendent, environmental advisor, construction site administration officer and quality and risk manager.
Each new hire will join the project team in Brisbane ahead of commencement of site works in Gladstone.
