Queensland’s energy and infrastructure boom is unlocking a new wave of procurement and partnership opportunities and Downer is inviting the supply chain to get involved.
At the next Connecting Industry Luncheon in Gladstone on Wednesday, 12 November, Downer’s Energy and Industrial – East general manager Mitch Warrener (pictured), will share how one of Australia’s leading contractors is shaping major projects across Queensland and New South Wales and how suppliers, contractors, and service providers can position themselves to work with Downer on upcoming opportunities.
From renewable energy and transmission upgrades to large-scale infrastructure, mining, and industrial services, Downer’s expanding portfolio is creating new pathways for businesses to play a role in building and maintaining the essential networks that power communities.
Joining Downer on stage, CQUniversity will showcase how collaboration between education and industry is addressing the skills challenge through initiatives such as the CQUniCares Downer Scholarship, which provides financial support, mentoring, and on-the-job experience for engineering students across regional Queensland.
Connecting Industry Director Kieran Moran said the luncheon is designed to bridge the gap between Tier 1 contractors and the regional supply chain.
“This isn’t just another networking lunch, it’s where business connections turn into future work,” Mr Moran said.
“Downer’s presence across Queensland’s and NSW’s energy, infrastructure, and industrial sectors means there are significant procurement and partnership opportunities available for capable businesses.
“The Connecting Industry Luncheon provides the platform to start those conversations – connecting decision-makers with regional suppliers who can deliver on quality, safety, and local capability.”
Mr Moran said having both Downer and CQUniversity present demonstrates how collaboration between major contractors, education providers, and the supply chain can strengthen regional capability and workforce sustainability.
The Connecting Industry Luncheon featuring Downer and CQUniversity will be held on Wednesday, 12 November, at the Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre. For more information and to register, connect here.
