Betta Group picks up contract in Olive Downs build

Betta Group has signed a $4.1 million contract to deliver civil works for the construction of a transmission line for Pembroke Resources’ Olive Downs Complex coal project.

The Orcoda subsidiary will be undertaking the work for Yurika – part of Energy Queensland.

Yurika is building an electricity transmission line to the Olive Downs Complex, a large-scale metallurgical coal mine under development north of Dysart in the Bowen Basin.

Orcoda managing director Geoff Jamieson said this significant project win was testament to Betta Group’s capabilities and reputation for executing large infrastructure projects.

The $1 billion Olive Downs project is expected to create 500 to 700 jobs during construction and more than 1000 jobs once at full production.

Forecast to contribute more than $10 billion to the Queensland economy and the Central Queensland region over the life of mine, Olive Downs will ship high-quality steelmaking coal to key markets including Japan, South Korea and India.
